Travel to CA - ugh

Today should have been an easy-peasy trip to California.  SHOULD HAVE BEEN is the operative phrase.  We packed up all our stuff, loaded in the car, drove to Phoenix, got our airplane tickets, and got on the plane.  During our drive up to Phoenix, we passed through a massive rainstorm.  Being Arizona, I didn't think much of it.  A little rain never hurt anything, right?  And it's pretty cool in the desert too.  Fast forward to our plane flight - as we take off, we pass through the clouds/storm over the Phoenix area.  It's bumpy, it's turbulent, but it's nothing terribly out of the ordinary.  At one point, there's even a loud bump/crash sound, but I figured hey, no big deal.  About 15 minutes after take off, the pilot comes on and tells us the nose of the plane was hit by lightening as we went up through the clouds on take off.  Since the airport in CA didn't have as many crew there as the one in Phoenix to do a thorough inspection, we were turning around and heading back to Phoenix.  Cue an entire plane full of people moaning, groaning, and even crying.  UGH.  We went back to Phoenix (through the same storm again!), landed, sat at a gate for another hour as they inspected everything, was given the all-clear to go back up, and then taxied out to the runway.  THEN we had to sit there on the runway for about 20 minutes while hail pounded down out of the sky.  Just...incredible.  What a day!  FINALLY took off, flew to Orange County, got our rental car, drove to the hotel, and settled in.  Did I mention that E was in underwear this entire time because she soiled both diapers I had as "back up" for our short trip to CA?!???  Oh my goodness, I think I've seen every bathroom in the PHX airport and SNA airport.  Finally in our hotel room, are fed, need to rest, but I have this horrible itch to run, so I'll probably go run a few miles on the treadmill to the stress out before going to bed.  Nice.
