Pre-birthday festivities

Since my birthday is tomorrow, and today is Saturday, we (okay, I) decided to start celebrating a little early.  My in-laws were more than happy to take the girls off our hands, so we went out to dinner and a movie.  After dropping off the girls (the girls literally waved us out the door so that they could have one-on-one time with their grandparents, LOL!), we went to The Melting Pot for dinner.  I'd always wanted to try it, we had a coupon, and now we had an occasion.  It was great!  Definitely paying for the atmosphere there, but it was a fun one-time sort of place to eat.  The appetizers were dipped in cheese fondue, the entree (meats) in a vegetable broth sort of concoction, salad was amazing, and then the chocolate-dipped fruits and cheesecakes for dessert were heavenly.  I also had a raspberry martini (I think it was called the raspberry framboise?), and that was PERFECT.  Such a great dinner.

Mmm, appetizer!  Once we added Tabasco sauce to the cheddar cheese, it was awesome.

Not only did the staff sign a card for my birthday, I got this at dessert time!  WOOHOO!

Then, movie.  We saw Looper.  It was an excellent movie for what it was.  However, I wish there was a disclaimer attached to the movie about some of the things that happen within it (I know, it would give the story away, blah blah blah) so that people that might have issues with those things (e.g. my husband) would know to avoid seeing it.  ARGH.  Nothing like having a husband that is totally and completely overwhelmed by what happened at the end.  Poor guy.
