Last night, I took L to her first orchestra concert. It's the string orchestra at a local high school (my HS piano student plays bass in it), and since L is obsessed with the violin, I thought why not? L was full of questions throughout the entire performance, bouncing in her seat, running up and down the side aisle, and being, well, almost four years old. Some of my favorite quotes from the night:
1. (talking about the conductor) "What he doing? I don't like him, he scary."
2. (whispering during a piece) "Mama, this song not sound like Mary Had A Little Lamb." (it was Wagner)
3. "It too loud!"
4. "Can I play violin now?"
5. (watching the violin soloist take the stage) "Mama, that be me someday!"
6. "Where potty? I need wash my hands."
7. "Why it dark? I scared of dark!"
8. (during a piece) "Mama, I go up on stage now? Please?"
Needless to say, she liked it. I asked her if she'd come with me again and she said yes, as long as she didn't have to walk on the muddy ground outside again (for crying out loud, it was raining over the weekend! come on, kid, mud won't kill you!!!). I'm glad I have a classical music companion now. :)
