Girls Trip - Day 5 (the end)

CC and I were able to get up early (I think I only got about 3 hours sleep!) and head out by 6:30am EDT.  We made great time, until we hit a pair of horrible thunderstorms in Kentucky.  The first time, I was driving.  We were going about 35 mph behind a semi where the road was narrowed to one lane in each direction, barely able to see 30 feet in front of us.  Thank goodness for the semi's emergency flashers and big profile!  The second time, CC was driving and, though it wasn't as long as the first time, it was still pretty scary and awful.  When all the lightening and thunder are cracking right above your car and the rain is sheeting down, you know it's pretty rough.  Besides that, we had good weather for the drive, and our longest stops were to get gas and Sonic in Paris, KY, and lunch later at a Fazoli's in Bardstown, KY.  CC drove me by the Grand Ole Opry when we got into Nashville, which was fun to see, and then we were back at her house by 2pm CDT.

Rain storm rolling in.
About two minutes before the skies just opened up, the second time.
The closest I got to the Grand Ole Opry.
I took a nap for two hours, then CC and her husband took me to the airport.  Bittersweet to say goodbye to someone I adore so much.  Checked in for my flight, flew to Denver, then flew to Tucson, caught the shuttle bus to the parking lot, loaded the car, and drove home.  Nobody woke up when I got home.  Granted, it was 11:45pm PDT, but the only person excited I was home at that hour was the dog!  I kissed the girls and L woke up to murmur "Mommy!", but the husband didn't even stop snoring when I kissed him and eventually crawled into bed.  So tired, having gone through every single time zone in the continental US today, but so glad to be home.

My flight is a-okay!  Time to head home.
