New year, new...me?

Happy 2013!  I have never made New Year's resolutions for the simple fact that I'm pretty sure I'd fail at them miserably.  However, this year is different.  I put a lot of thought into what I wanted to change for the year, and I accept the fact that it may take time to get on board with some of them.  I'm not going to give up after just a couple weeks - I'm going to make these happen!  So, here's my list.  I'll update it quarterly on here to see where we're at...

1.  Lose 15 pounds - If I was being super honest, I'd say my true goal is to lose 20-25 pounds, but I'm going to be realistic and say 15.  I can do 15.  Will be starting the South Beach diet soon to help with that.
2.  Workout 5 times per week, 30 minutes (at least) per workout - This isn't hard because it's pretty much what I do right now.  I just want to maintain it.
3.  Donate one box of stuff per month to Goodwill - ...or some other organization that takes donations.  We have so much stuff in this house that we don't use or need anymore, it makes sense to try and whittle it down.  Maybe I'll finally find space for all the stuff we do need and want!
4.  Limit computer time - This is a hard one for me.  I think I'll aim for morning check, lunchtime check, and evening check.  That's it.  No checking in in the middle of the day.  I am not, however, going to limit computer time for work-related things.  Just recreational.
5.  Eat better and less sugar - See South Beach diet rules to enforce this one!
6.  Bake something at least once a month - The entire family loves it, I love making things, but I just don't make time for it.  I hope to remedy that (and try a few new things!).
7.  Eat out less often - The husband and I always eat out on Thursday nights, and then we probably eat out again once during the weekend.  The holidays are a horrible time for us - we probably eat out 3-4 times per week in December.  I would really like to limit this to 1-2 times per month (instead of 8-10 times) for our health, wallet, and sanity.
8.  No soda - This one is easy.  I swore off soda last summer and drank only water for four months straight.  Started drinking again over the holidays (argh), but have stopped again.  I don't think it will be that hard to give up again.
9.  Run a half marathon - SCARY.  SO SCARY.  Can I really run 13.1 miles?  Will I fail miserably and make myself a huge embarrassment?  Personally, if I do this, I really really want to run the whole thing.  Realistically, I'll probably walk a bit.  I'm biting the bullet and saying "yes I'll do this" this year not once, but twice.  My training partner C and I will do one at the end of March and another in mid October.  Here's hoping it doesn't kill me!

Nine items to keep in mind for the year.  I really think I can do them.  If I can keep them, I'll be healthier, more organized, and doing more things with/for my family than I am now.  This will be awesome!
